Final Fantasy XII Net Forums > vaan and penelo?
The official Brady Games strategy guide refers to Vaan and Penelo, "like brother and sister". In Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, Penelo's relationship with. Vaan and penelo have the chemistry. Basch really does not care about intimate relations and would rather be a solider who occasionally hooks. Arguably, some remnants of Ashe and Basch's budding relationship is still working out for them more than Vaan and Penelo's love interest.

Thanks for saving fighting games Goku! As for Ashe and Basch, he's almost old enough to be her dad 17 year age difference between the two and besides, at the end he decides Ashe is safe and no longer needs him so he goes off to be Larsa's bodyguard in Gabranth's place, even taking up his identity. There are men who marry or remarry women that are 15 to 20 years their junior. Some even go younger than that but I would say those are more likely to be gold diggers.
Not that I saw anything between Basch and Ashe but it's not unlikely for a man in his late 30s to bang a hot early 20 years old woman. Heck I'm almost 30 and I seen a few years old girls I wouldn't mind banging. Shinagawakun 1 year ago 56 No.
Despite her small role and the short amount of time that the two spend together, their relationship feels genuine and one can feel the chemistry between the two even though they are virtual creations. However, in a need to make a profit from the exorbitantly expensive Crystal Tools graphics engine, a sequel is what people got.
The second part threw in time travel, two new lead characters, and a largely forgettable romance between Noel, one of the party members, and Yuel, the tragic figure at the center of the plot. Yuel and Noel are the two last people alive in their era, and thus grow a close bond to each other. He is cruel and she never stands up for herself. Eventually, the truth is revealed that Cid treats Shera this way because he blames her for ruining his dream of space flight.
By the end of the game, she is forgiven and the two live happily ever after. While one may criticize Cid Highwind for his behavior, the relationship paints a three dimensional character with traits previously unseen in games up to that point. He's still a hero, but he does not respect his better half for compromising his life long dream. Main characters have to have flaws, even if one of those is holding an irrational grudge against their wife.
For example, the relationship between Zidane and Princess Garnet is less effective. The two first meet at the beginning of the game when he is given the job of kidnapping her. The Princess is not against this, however, and the two instantly hit it off. There is nothing inherently wrong with the relationship, but the art style makes both of them look very young.
Usually, childhood romances are taken less seriously than adult relationships. If one can look past the design, what lies beneath is actually a compelling RPG. When Rinoa is first introduced, he treats her much the same. However, the two eventually learn more and grow fond of one another. This developing relationship is at the center of the game's story and is what really makes it so memorable to those who played it.
Of course, the game play is no slouch either, but the whole experience would not stand the test of time if it was not for Squall and Rinoa's relationship. Additionally, no one can ever forget "Eyes On Me". In the manga, Basch and Vaan cooperate to kill the Mimic Queen and Basch fights the smaller mimics off to protect Vaan, the two discussing Reks's belief in Basch and the true events of Raminas's death during the battle.
The group escapes into the Dalmasca Estersandand Basch tells Vaan he will accept atonement at his hands after he is finished what he needs to do, and Balthier returns Vaan's chestpiece. At the Resistance base in Lowtown Vaan finds Vossler disrespecting the people who were at the Nalbina Fortress during the treaty signing, including Reks.
Vaan yells out that Reks was no liar, which Basch—who had been recuperating under the Resistance watch—agrees with, stating that Reks was the witness Archadia needed to make it convincing. Vaan rides an airship on his way to Bhujerba to rescue Penelo. Basch asks Vaan to help him and apologizes, but Vaan has let go of his hatred, realizing Basch's framing was another of Vayne's schemes.

The four board Balthier's airship, the Strahlwith Vaan excited he gets to fly. On their way to the Lhusu Mines in Bhujerba where Ba'Gamnan has his hideout, the party is joined by a well-spoken Archadian boy, Lamont. After dealing with Ba'Gamnan, the party hides from Judge Ghis who has come to inspect the mines, and it is revealed "Lamont" is Larsa Ferrinas Solidora member of Archadia's ruling family and Vayne's brother.
Penelo stands with them, having been discovered by guards inside the mines. Larsa ensures Penelo's safety and asks her to accompany him to Marquis Ondore's mansion. Vaan's wishes to rescue Penelo coincide with Basch's need to meet with Ondore. Knowing that Ondore has connections with the Resistance, Vaan spreads rumors of Basch being alive hoping to discredit the Marquis who declared him executed two years ago.
With the stirring Vaan is approached by the Resistance who take him and the rest of the party to Ondore. Ondore appeases Basch's wish to be reunited with "Amalia", and hands the party over to Ghis to have them taken aboard the Dreadnought Leviathan where she is held captive.
Vaan is reunited with Penelo onboard the Dreadnought Leviathan. They find Amalia who is revealed to be Princess Ashelia B'nargin Dalmascathe rightful heir to the throne of Dalmasca, believed to have committed suicide after her father's murder two years prior. As she cannot prove her birthright she cannot challenge the Empire, but Basch tells her that the Dusk Shard will be proof enough—the Goddess's Magicite Vaan stole from the palace.
